Due to the Corona epidemic, Copenhagen Legal Aid

can only be contacted by telephone

 

Copenhagen Legal Aid is open for telephone counselling.

  

It will still not be possible to physically attend the Legal Aid.​

 

However, from May 18th  2020, Legal Aid can summon individual clients to attend Copenhagen Legal Aid if it is strictly necessary.

The written summons must be presented at attendance.

between 18:30 and 20:30 as follows:

Existing clients: will be asked to inform us of your case number and phone number.

 

Note that you can only contact us on the day, which you are registered to (your case number and the day is stated on your pink client card).

 

Our advisors will then call you back later in the evening.

New clients:

  1. When you call us, you will be asked to inform us of your name and phone number.

  2. Our administrative personnel will then call you to ask for your address information and email.

  3. Later in the evening, our legal advisors will call you to advice you about your questions. Please have all relevant documents ready.

The Legal Aid can only process a limited number of inquiries each day.

 

Once we have reached our capacity, we will unfortunately have to close the phone – however, no later than at 20.30.

 

Our advisors will contact everybody, who has been on contact with our reception, the same night. Unfortunately, this call may be late in the evening.

 

We regret the inconvenience the above will cause, but we are doing our best to resume ordinary business, as soon as the circumstances allows for this.

Who do we help?

 

Copenhagen Legal Aid provides free legal advice to any citizen, whether Danish or not, and whether you live in Copenhagen or anywhere else. The extent to which we can help you however depends on the income of your household.

 

We prefer if you visit us personally, but we can also offer advice via telephone.

Please note the following, if you are planning to visit us:

 

  • Have your health card and all relevant papers ready so we can advise you at the first meeting.

  • Also have your NemID ready. We often need you to access your data with NemID.

  • If you already have an existing case in the Legal Aid, then remember to visit the Legal Aid on the weekday/night that you bnelong to (this is printed on your pink client card). Otherwise, you will be asked to come again on the correct weekday/night. This applies without exception and also if you are inquiring about a new matter. This way, you will always talk to the same advisors and we can ensure that our advice is provided as efficiently as possible.

 

  • Be prepared for some waiting time. All our clients will receive advice on the same night and we are keen to help all of you as best we can - but we never know how many clients that decide to visit us on a given night.

 

  • If you have decided to call us, please note that we are particularly busy early in the evening. Once we have served the clients that are visiting us in person, we will call the clients that have contacted us by phone. It may therefore be late, before we can call you back.

  • Copenhagen Legal aid's premises are located on the 1st and 2nd floor. Wheelchair users and heavily handicapped people can get help using the elevator. However, you must have a helper yourself, as the Legal Aid staff usually can not leave the premises. Please contact the counter on the 1st floor to be assisted to get access the elevator.

What do we help with?

 

We can advise you within most areas of Danish law with very few exceptions.

 

In many respects, the Legal Aid operates as an law office but without the legal fees. You will be assigned to a individual advisor and in most cases we will assist you until the case is closed.
